Bridget is a Historical Fiction and Romance Writer, Ricardian, Wife, Grandmother and Mother.
Bridget M. Beauchamp lives in Cumbria, England close to the border with North Yorkshire. Passionate about British history and a dedicated member of the Richard III society she is in love with the gentle landscapes of Northern England and its literature and history. Bridget writes of times gone by and the people that lived in them who were shaped by their environment and the love and loss they experienced. She writes of honour, romance, loyalty, devotion as well as intrigue, tragedy, despair and betrayal and of human emotion, in a wonderfully spellbinding fusion of fact and fiction.
Her profound interest in the Plantagenet Kings, the Wars of the Roses and her fascination with King Richard III prompted her to write her first novel ‘Maid of Middleham’ and its sequel ‘Cleave to the Crown’: both of which are based on exonerating Richard from the crimes attributed to him by the Tudors and Shakespeare’s imaginative portrayal.
Bridget spent her childhood in Suffolk on the coast near Aldeburgh and has fond memories of desolate shingle beaches, fishing villages, quiet reed bordered waterways and vast watercolour skies. Intrigued by stories of smuggling along these coasts, told to her by her mother, Bridget was inspired to include her love of nature, landscape, English literature and history in her own interpretation.
‘Whispers in the Shingle’ is Bridget’s third novel, which was inspired by childhood memories of Suffolk's lonely coast. It conjures up life in late 18th century coastal villages, where graceful sailing ships plied the waters of the Sea and where poverty drove many to a life of crime and chance.
